Samsung Galaxy S23 series: Everything we know so far

Samsung Galaxy S23 series: Everything we know so far Will there be a Samsung Galaxy S23 series? The Galaxy S line is Samsung’s most popular premium smartphone series. It is inevitable that the company would launch a new entry in the series, just as it has done every year since 2010.  Of course, Samsung has thrown curveballs in the past in relation to the names of the phones. For instance, we skipped from the Galaxy S10 series to the Galaxy S20 series. However, Samsung did this mainly to align the name of the phone with the year in which it was released. Therefore, it’s nearly certain the new Galaxy S line would be known as the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Samsung continues to be the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. A huge reason for its astonishing success is the popularity of its Galaxy S line. Over the years, the Galaxy S line has become synonymous with Android, being some of the most well-known and most revered devices in the market. In 2023, we expect that to continue with th

Nothing Phone 1: Price, specs, features, & everything you need to know

At its Return to Instinct event, Nothing officially launched the Phone (1) smartphone. The Nothing Phone 1 comes with an impressive set of features at a no-so-high price tag. For those looking for a new smartphone with a great screen, different design, premium materials, and pro-grade cameras, the Nothing Phone (1) is an excellent option. Read along and learn everything about Nothing's first-ever smartphone.

Design

As Carl Pei promised, the Nothing Phone (1) keeps a similar design as its Ear (1). The design of the Nothing Phone (1) is quite different in comparison to the smartphones currently found in the market. The phone sports a transparent back that shows off its industrial elements, like screws that hold some of the panels in place and the wireless charging coil. The Nothing logo, engraved in the dot matrix font, can be found in the bottom left corner. The phone is surrounded by an aluminum metal frame.

Nothing says that the frame of the Phone 1 is made out of 100% recycled aluminum. In addition, 50% of the plastic used is made out of bio-based or post-consumer recycled materials. The Phone 1 also sports Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. There's an advanced vibration motor that makes the touch responses life-like, while the symmetrical bezels and aluminum frame add elegance, lightness, and durability.

Glyph Interface

One of the unique things about the Phone (1), and a thing that improves the overall appeal of the Phone (1), is Glyph Interface. The smartphone comes with 900 LEDs on the back. These white LED strips can be found surrounding the camera module, the wireless charging coil, towards the top right corner, and just beneath the charging coil.

Nothing says that the Glyph Interface is a new way of communicating and a way to minimize screen time. Users can configure the Glyphs to light up during calls, notifications, and alarms. The LEDs can even configure it to act as a flash for photos (there's a separate flash on the back as well) and a battery charging indicator. It can be configured through Android settings.

Display

Nothing Phone (1) comes with a 6.55-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels at 402 PPI. The display supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, the Nothing Phone 1 also boasts support for HDR10+ playback and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits.

Camera

This setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX 766 primary camera and a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide angle lens with 114-degree FoV. The punch-hole cutout in the front houses the smartphone's 16 MP selfie camera. The primary camera sensor supports OIS (optical image stabilization) while EIS (electronic image stabilization) is offered on both sensors.

While the video recording is capped at 4K 30fps, 1080p videos can go up to 60fps. Nothing says it fine-tuned the Phone (1)'s camera using a 10-bit display so that the images look as true to what is seen through the viewfinder.

Processor

The Nothing Phone (1) is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G+ processor. Nothing says that it skipped using the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset on the Phone (1) as the 778G+ provides apt power and performance at a lower price. Snapdragon 778G+ is an octa-core chipset with four high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores and four power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores. In addition, the chipset features Adreno 642L GPU and an X53 5G modem.

Battery

Nothing Phone (1) is a 4500 mAh battery cell. The smartphone supports 33W PD3.0 wired charging. Nothing says that the battery of the Phone 1 should last up to 18 hours on a single charge. Thanks to the 33W fast wired charging, you can get 50% power in just 30 minutes.
The Nothing Phone (1) also supports 15W Qi wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Nothing Phone 1 Price

Nothing Phone (1) isn't a flagship smartphone, and the company has given it a reasonable price tag of £399 GBP for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The 8GB/256GB variant and 12GB/256GB variant have been priced at £449 and £499, respectively.
